Creative Drawing

Creativity is a skill that can be developed. Like any muscle, the brain needs to be exercised and challenged. Picking up a crayon and making marks on paper is often the very first art activity for young children. Drawing requires very little in the way of materials (simply a sheet of paper and a drawing tool), is easy and engaging for all ages and levels of ability, and is usually mess free. Drawing allows children to:

  • EXPRESS themselves
  • EXPERIMENT with ideas and techniques
  • INTERACT with others
  • Develop FINE MOTOR SKILLS
  • MAKE ART anywhere

Creative Coloring

Colouring stimulates creative thinking and encourages colour awareness. Using different colours gives children an opportunity to explore different combinations and lets them see how they can change the appearance of the picture. It is great also for gaining awareness of the lesser known colours. They get to understand how one colours blends with another, the understanding of which helps them to enter the infinity world of colouring.

  • Coloring helps a child practice holding a writing tool the correct way and aids in developing those tiny muscles in their hands, fingers, and wrist.
  • Coloring aids in hand-eye coordination as the child learns to color within the specified area.
  • Children develop the skill of patience and learn to focus on details when coloring.
  • Coloring allows a child to relax and be comfortable while creating a piece of art.
  • Coloring a simple printed page helps a child to see and recognize patterns and rhythm.
  • By continuous practice, children can even learn to plan as to what colours they want to use for their pictures and in what sequence.

Creative Crafts

Crafts usually involve children working with both hands which helps them develop their bilateral coordination and fine motor skills which is nothing more than small movements. When they pick up papers, sticks, glue, scissors, buttons, sequins to make a craft work they employ their fine motor skills and it also helps them develop their ‘feeling factor’ using the form, texture and shape of the object. They notice patterns, colours and physical improbabilities without thinking twice. This cognitive development is very important in for both now and later in life for children.

Executive functioning is another benefit of art which means focusing attention, controlling impulses and using working memory. These skills guide planned behaviour, and are very predictive of later professional and academic success. This empowers children with positive emotional responses to learning and preserving their work becomes a sense of pride while they can showcase their talent to others too. For children who are shy and reserved, parents should have even more reason to encourage them to carry out arts and crafts activities as this will give the parents some insight into what their child is feeling, thinking, or experiencing.

Arts and crafts are an activity that can be done both alone and with company. It can be a great bonding activity between kids and their friends or even with parents. Kids can also pursue this as a hobby when they need to entertain themselves when they are on their own.

Books take on the kids, a journey to another world. They open a door to a wondrous world of magic, mystery, wild imagination, legendary icons and ordinary heroes, adventure, art, literature… all created through a fantastic interplay of words. Many a times, kids learn from books teach kids a lot more by connecting their thoughts with the words in it.

Reading books aid in brain development. When kids read, their brain cells are literally turned on, and existing links among brain cells are strengthened and new cell links are formed. Reading is also one of the best activities to provide the foundational language and literacy skills your child needs to succeed. There’s no predicting what might catch their fancy, but, whatever it is, they can “test drive” it at low risk
As card-carrying library patrons, young kids learn about treating with care things that belong to others. When a kid checks out books in his own name, he feels trustworthy. He feels responsible. He feels more like a member of his community. They also get excited to pick up new books every time they visit the library. A child’s first library card is an early rite of passage.

Kids & Parents Workshops

Parenting is an area in which there are no set instructions or manuals to direct parents on how to correctly raise their children, and there is no magical formula that will make the perfect guide. Parenting is subjective, and parents are often the best judge of character of their own children, but why not take the advice of knowledgeable and experienced Professionals.

Parenting Workshops and courses are fuelled and taught by experienced teachers, and are supported by reputable scientific reports. Parenting sessions give parents the confidence they need to competently raise children in the right manner by giving them an opportunity to talk about a common subject and learn different ways of handling them from each other.

The way a child is raised in its early years has a significant impact on its mental development, not only during this period, but also throughout the rest of its life.

Parenting Sessions teach parents the most efficient and effective ways of helping their children grow and develop. More educated parents will make better decisions in the lives of their children, in turn improving the mental and emotional development of children in their early years.
